Is divorce mediation only for simple matters or can it handle complicated matters also? Or complicated situations?
Bill Leininger – Divorce Mediation Attorney – Richmond County, NY
My last two mediations involved older couples. One was a husband-nurse couple and a very successful doctor. They had $17 million worth of assets. When they came to see me, I said, well, you can use individual attorneys, but be prepared. There’s a possibility you may spend between $50,000 and $100,000 each in a contested divorce. I believe that your case will cost you, together, less than $10,000. And I was able to bring it in for less than that. And it was over in two and a half months.
Okay, so another mediation I handled shortly thereafter was $9 million worth of assets. So there is no case that’s too complicated for divorce mediation.
