“So, basically, you address their unreasonable belief in what they’re going to get out of it. But that comes from everything they hear about…a number of articles and television programs where they hear about people making an incredible amount of windfalls. So people enter this process thinking this is my lottery ticket.”
Andrew Dósa – Personal Injury Attorney – Oakland, CA
“Well, my sense of it is that most people know when they come into my office that they haven’t got cancer and they have a matter of weeks to live. If they were in that situation, they might have a heightened expectation of a result. But if their shoulder is sore and they’re complaining because they missed two days of work, I think they would understand there is a natural limit to what they may receive.
I just work through, talking about what are the component parts of a claim, and how we would potentially evaluate it, and then give them confidence that the case is worth pursuing. But I give them a measured sense of hopefulness about what we may be able to accomplish.”
