“I think the one thing you need to be careful about when you see news reports or watch news reports about these large settlements, you got to remember that you don’t know all the facts that are being reported. So you’re not going to know exactly how injured the person was or is there a long effect. A large settlement or a large judgement occurs in a personal injury case when there are serious injuries that both took a lot of time and medical treatment to recover from, or maybe there was never a full recovery. Then, there’s a long-term effect.
So when people see that stuff in the news, and then they automatically assume that their injury is going to be that…you know, as that attorney, we’ve got to do a good job at being able to relay what the facts of the other cases were, and compare that with their case. And then, kind of bring down expectations and bring them to reality, or maybe they’re right, maybe their injuries are worth that much.”

And if somebody doesn’t ever fully recover from the injuries, that creates a higher value of their case because there may be future medical care or future pain and suffering that they’re going to have to endure.”
