Is this type of case, a mass tort case, is the timeline any different than a personal injury case?
Steven Gacovino – Social Media Youth Harm Mass Tort Attorney – Suffolk County, NY
This is a mass tort case to answer the first part of the question, but the timelines in these cases, I’ve seen them go fast within a time frame similar to that of personal injury, but for the most part they do take longer.
These are very complex litigations involving a lot of parties and just by its very nature, the discovery process is going to be much longer.
You’re looking at very wealthy and powerful defendants. I think that the litigation by its nature is vast because we’re looking into so many different types of mental illness, we’re looking at several different companies.
It will probably go on for a pretty long time, at least we can expect to, and certainly we know from other mass torts that really five years, six years, seven years is not unusual for a mass tort to get wrapped up.
