Do you find the school works with you in this process, or do they put up roadblocks?
Darryl Stallworth – Criminal Defense Attorney – Alameda County, CA
It varies from school and from state. Title IX is still a new area of investigation for a lot of schools. They don’t have former police officers conducting investigation. They don’t have former specialists and experts in the area. They often will hire a law firm that has some litigation attorneys, but they’re not typically trained or skilled in this area. So they’re still struggling with how they’re going to go through the different protocol and what they’re going to do. Some are better than others. Some are really troubled by not having the experience and skill.
