Let’s talk about theft. Now another part of your law practice. In today’s society and today’s news cycle… today, tomorrow, yesterday… you’re going to see that there are rampant thefts going on. It’s against retail stores. And of course that’s the sensationalism of the news cycle… for obviously, viewers, for clicks, etc, etc. But theft is more than just against retail stores. Tell us about that part of your practice.

Well, you start off with what I call the white collar…embezzlement. People still entrusting folks to manage their money, but not doing a very good job of auditing…and finding out whether or not the bills are being paid, whether or not someone’s skimming off the top, whether or not there’s fraudulent checks that are being produced out there.
There…there’s a lot of challenges with providing care to elderly folks who are being taken advantage of… they’re being robbed of their possessions and the money.
Those are the ones that are scary, and those are the ones that have the high volume. The other ones are from credit card fraud. There are still some folks out there who are able to get the use of credit card numbers, and then they create their own credit cards and they use them in order to sell them on the black market.
So that’s a lot of that…that’s going on. The regular burglaries inside of people’s businesses and homes that are being targeted, the snatch and grab stuff that’s happening on the street with the cars. It’s horrible, but those folks have figured out that they’re just doing so much volume that they know the police can’t sit out there and wait for them.
Although we’ve got something here in California now where the governor has issued some highway patrol persons to help with the street death. And so, it’s more of a presence. And they’re trying to find ways to identify the folks that are leaving and what they’re doing. But overall, it’s still a big challenge. People are getting more sophisticated with being able to figure out how they can take advantage of folks with fraud and theft.
