“All right. So, let’s talk about drugs. Obviously, there has been a vast change in California and a lot of other States about drug laws. And decriminalizing them. Obviously, changing even past convictions. But with those changes, what do you see in terms of the criminal court system? What are most of the drug arrests? What do they involve?”
Stuart Kirchick – Criminal Defense Attorney – Santa Clara County, CA
“It seems right now, the criminal justice system, and rightfully so, is most concerned about fentanyl. By far. Like…that is the killer. It comes in disguise oftentimes. And again, like the health departments, everyone is concerned. And especially the criminal justice system. And they try…and even advise people in court who are using hard drugs, like heroin or certain pills, to like, you know, really be aware of fentanyl and the hazards. Or it’s sort of an educational aspect that’s going on in the criminal justice system as well. But it seems to be the largest concern right now, other than like, really hard core, large scale sales operations or manufacturing, such as methamphetamines.”
