“Well, if somebody watches the news, they hear about drug arrests, about…well, actually, any type of law enforcement arrest being down from previous years. It’s decreased, it’s decreased, it’s decreased. Obviously, it doesn’t seem to be the case in this particular field of law, meaning drug arrests. Is that correct?”
Stuart Kirchick– Criminal Defense Attorney – Santa Clara County, CA
“I mean, that’s a tough question for me, being that I’m not a social scientist in the area of law enforcement. I don’t know all the statistics.”

“I’m actually talking about what you see in the courtroom.”
Stuart Kirchick– Criminal Defense Attorney – Santa Clara County, CA
“Yeah, yeah. But I mean, if I had, if I had to…really, I think there’s a lot of factors going into that. Every law enforcement agency is hiring right now. Is it a factor that they’re just putting their resources towards more dangerous things that are going on in the world than just the guys using drugs, or women using drugs, and it’s small scale stuff… that could be a factor. I think definitely in the court system. Definitely you’re seeing a lot less of it. And that’s… lot of it is because…drug court. You know, unless you’re in drug court all day, that’s where you’re going to see the drug related defendants. See, it used to be, they’d have those cases scattered among the different courtrooms, you know. But they’ve kind of isolated the court system to where just the drug case defendants are going to be in this one spot, you know.”
