Grant at USNA

HELP SAVE This Sailor's Career!

The petitions on this page support the actions to reverse the unconstitutional, unequal, unjust, and illegal treatment of *ETN3 Grant Hrdlicka by Superintendent Admiral Sean Buck of the United States Naval Academy (and his NAPS Command) and allow ETN3 Grant Hrdlicka admission into the USNA.

No U.S. military service member or U.S. citizen should have their future career destroyed because they asked to speak to an attorney. And that is exactly what transpired. Dozens of other sailors were treated differently; did not have their careers ruined. No sailor was treated as severely for the same rules violation. ETN3 Grant Hrdlicka was punished rather than disciplined, simply because he exerted his 5th amendment right to talk to a lawyer. And for that action, two different Navy Commands (NAPS and USNA) violated Navy regulations and the U.S Constitution in their successful, thus far, attempt to destroy ETN3 Grant Hrdlicka’s naval career path as a future commissioned USNA officer. Do not let this stand!

PLEASE HELP! Help us rectify those violations by signing the appropriate petition below. Do not let two Navy Commands commit serious constitutional and administrative violations simply because they want to punish a sailor for exerting his constitutional rights.

Donors to the Naval Academy

As financial contributors to the Naval Academy, you support the development of our country’s future Leaders in the Navy. The serious violations in the treatment of ETNSN Grant Hrdlicka impacts not only one person, but potentially many others into the future. How enlisted personnel and officers view this situation and how it impacts their decisions in the future, affects the Navy at large.

Attorneys

No segment of society should be more outraged at members of the Navy denying a sailor the right to speak to an attorney than the Legal Profession. Our “rule of law” society demands the equal application of those laws. Recently, Colonel J.P. McDonough, USMC, 89th Commandant of Midshipmen at USNA, wrote “…we must afford due process to each individual. This is a fundamental tenet of both our American judicial and military justice systems.”

Retired/Former Military Service

As retired Military Service members, you devoted a large portion of your life to service our country. Help us insure equal justice under law. Again, as Colonel J.P. McDonough, USMC, 89th Commandant of Midshipmen at USNA, recently wrote, “Moreover, we who wear the cloth of our nation have an even greater obligation to these ideals, as we have raised our right hands and sworn to protect and defend the Constitution, which enshrines these fundamental rights.”

Elected Officials and Staff

You took an oath of office and your staff made a conscious decision to work in public service. Our laws are not just for some people. And again, as Colonel J.P. McDonough, USMC, 89th Commandant of Midshipmen at USNA, recently wrote, “Phrases like “equal justice under law” and “commitment to the rule of law” are cornerstones of our democracy.” Help us insure those cornerstones.

General Public

Our constitution provides rights unique to history and the world. Those who would erode our rights need to be identified and corrective action taken. Let your voice be heard by signing this petition to reverse constitutional violations in our military. Let us make a statement together.
